Biography

Lt Col Charles E. Dorssom is the Commander and Professor of Aerospace Studies, Detachment 280, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan. 

He administers the detachment’s officer training program and is responsible for commissioning the Air Force’s newest second lieutenants into active duty.  He chairs the university’s Department of Aerospace Studies and instructs a curriculum covering foundations and history of the Air Force, leadership, and national security affairs.

Lt Col Dorssom received his commission through the Air Force Officer Training School in Feb 2004 after receiving an Atmospheric Science degree from the University of Kansas. He attended weather officer training at Keesler AFB, Miss and is a Master Meteorologist. He has been a flight commander, assistant operations officer, detachment commander, and squadron commander, serving in both a conventional Air Force capacity and supporting the Army. Additionally, he performed special duty assignments as an instructor, an executive officer, and as a member of the Air Combat Command Commander’s Action Group. Iraqi Air Force in support of Operation NEW DAWN and as the Joint METOC Officer in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.
