Arnold Air Society (AAS) is a professional, honorary service organization. Along with other squadrons from all across the country, the Ennis C. Whitehead Squadron at the University of Kansas is dedicated to serving our community and helping our cadets develop into better officer candidates.

As a service organization, on of our primary objectives is to give back to our community. Examples of this service include highway clean-ups, food and clothing drives, and fundraisers for those in need. Additionally, each year Arnold Air Society selects one major issue to which it dedicates its service efforts; past examples have included breast cancer and the environment.

As a professional development organization, AAS aids in the development of young cadets. Prospective members participate in a semester long candidacy program in which they develop their professional qualities as well as their knowledge of the history and traditions of the Air Force.

All in all, AAS is an excellent program to help accelerate the development of cadets as officer candidates as well as a great avenue to help give back to the community, and I would recommend it to any prospective AFROTC cadet.
